If you order a breechclout made of Commercial Tanned buckskin, we pre-stretch the buckskin before making the 'clout. Indian Tanned buckskin is already pre-stretched during tanning.

Eastern cloth breechclouts were often very short, only reaching the groin level in both front and back. Buckskin breechclouts were a bit longer - to mid-thigh level. Worn by Native Americans and Longhunters.

Original buckskin breechclouts were narrow, continuous strips of buckskin. Eventually, to save hides and the time needed to tan them, 'clouts may be made by sewing 2 or 3 short pieces together to get the length needed. That's the way most are made today.
